Continue Forward – A Part Of The Human Soul

Keep moving forward - a part of the human soul

To move forward is not an option, it is an obligation and a part of the human soul. We have all experienced it. We have all been depressed at difficult times in our lives. And when this happens, our whole universe changes, and we notice that we are lying face down on the ground and that we are in a suffocating dimension.

As we go through difficult and problematic times, there is a part of our brain that encourages us to move forward. It is the voice of logic, and it is in line with what our loved ones are saying to us. They care about us and try to support us with words of encouragement.

But there is another part of our brain that resists change and is stuck in painful events that have robbed us of our peace. This part of our brain also tries to rob us of the feeling of security that we enjoyed not too long ago.

Letting go of something or someone, giving up the things that gave us an identity, like a job or friendship, makes us go into a state of alarm. A complex situation that we must handle appropriately and wisely.

We want to get so far away from all that accumulation of negative emotions that grips us. And yet it is very beneficial to face that emotional knot to understand it and sort it out. A complex set of circumstances that, if we control and sort them out, will give us the necessary impulses to move forward.

People with the ball

Sometimes we underestimate the amazing ability of resistance and self-improvement that each of us has within us in the human soul, right in our hearts. It is an unpredictable hard diamond that can light up our paths. If we are going to go deeper into this idea, it is worth telling a little story that will surely make us reflect and come to more than one conclusion.

We have all seen the famous poster with the phrase “Keep Calm and Carry On”. Staying calm and moving forward is one of the best-selling messages in the field of personal development. However, it has a very interesting origin. To discover this, we must travel to World War II, more specifically to London in 1940.

The government knew that the situation in Britain could not be more complicated. The war had reached its climax and the bombs of the German army were constantly falling on the largest cities. It needed a form of defense, and in addition to the military part, they needed to raise the morale of the population. They needed to feel that typical British stoicism, so that their mood would not be so low in these terrible circumstances.

To encourage progress, the government designed posters that they put up on the streets. Several proposals were put forward such as “Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution will bring us Victory” and “Keep Calm and Carry On”. It was the latter that was chosen as the words needed by the British people, and over two million copies were printed. A large part of the budget was used for this project.

Keep calm poster

The question now is whether this well-meaning poster helped? The answer is simple – it was not necessary. The poster was never put up on the streets. Winston Churchill decided that it was not appropriate, as he felt that the British did not need condescending messages. People already knew that the only possible solution was to move forward, fight and have confidence. Man already has his own mechanism within the human soul to draw strength from adversity and resist. To move forward is an inherent part of the human soul.

Placing these messages on the street was like a joke. For this reason, the government hid them and also destroyed many of them, so that no one would discover that they had invested so much money in something that was simply not necessary.

It was not until the year 2000 that some of them were found by mistake in an old bookstore. The find was so surprising and it did not take long before an expression that had been created several decades ago began to become extremely popular.

Perhaps deep down in the human soul we know that humans are made of indestructible material, and that it is in our genes to resist and move forward? But what can we do when we have lost our enthusiasm? How should we react when our feet are caught, our hearts are cold and our senses are dominated by negative thoughts?

  • Feel your emotions. We pointed this out in the beginning. We must be able to understand our emotional labyrinth, be aware of negative emotions and make them our own and channel them so that they slowly but surely lose their intensity.
  • What do you deserve? Think about it and dive into that question and make a list of what you deserve. To be happy, to have another opportunity, to have more freedom. To take responsibility for yourself, love and be loved, achieve success and have hope again.
  • See how your feet touch the ground. It may seem ridiculous, but something as simple as feeling our feet touch the ground gives us a sense of security and mobility. We will not stick to the ground, we have the ability to move forward and trade.
  • Exercise deep breathing and meditation. Connecting with ourselves and with everything around us is fundamental. These practices will help us focus, channel emotions, clear our senses and make us aware of other perspectives.
  • Create a group of resilient people. Among your friends and family, there are people who have gone through tough times and who have managed it. Learn from them.
  • Create a mantra. Create a phrase that will encourage and motivate you in your daily life. Here are some examples: “I deserve”, “I am brave”, “Fantastic things await me, I am ready to go after them”.

Finally, we have the most important step – grab your momentum. Going forward means having self-confidence. This is something we can all do to achieve a more perfect reality. The reality we deserve.
