The most intense of emotions: kama bribe

Research says that the most intense of universal of emotions is kama bribe. But what does it mean? In Sanskrit, it literally means “to be touched, filled with love and / or admiration”.

It is considered so powerful because it defines a moment when we feel full of affection. It is a surprise and admiration of something or someone.

It is the moment when our eyes begin to tear because of the strength of emotion. This feeling is not easy to define, but several studies have examined whether it exists in all human cultures.

They have tried to find out how we all experience and describe it.

The language of emotions

The emotions involved in kama muta could be translated into “being touched”. But to do so would be to limit this feeling, because it connects with something deeper that is both positive and negative in humans.

We can not reduce it to being a simple love, because it rises above our emotional relationships.

It is the moment when something suddenly awakens within us. Something that invades us at that very moment. It is a short feeling, but so intense  that it lingers in the memory.

Alan Fiske – professor of anthropology at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) – points out that it is a social emotion.

This means that kama bribery does not take place in solitude. It always arises in connection with a situation, a person or a group of people who positively surprise and inspire us.

Something or someone that moves us to get goosebumps, a lump in the stomach or sudden tears in the eyes. Let’s find out more about this.

Kama bribe: an intense, comforting experience

Think, for example, of a friend who did something amazing for you. Maybe the birth of a child or attending your best friend’s wedding. A meeting or event with people you love but have not met in a long time.

To feel proud of someone, to hear a lecture from someone you admire or to go to a concert and feel inspired… these are just a few examples that define the emotions that are included in kama muta.

A while ago, many universities from all corners of the world published a large, detailed study on this. Its purpose was to show what has been discovered regarding the emotions that make up the kama bribe.

What was discovered  was basically that each person / culture expresses and experiences it in the same way,  both physically and psychologically. For example, everyone experiences the following:

  • A feeling of euphoria.
  • Heat in the chest.
  • Tears in her eyes.
  • Shivers or piloerection (goosebumps).
  • Shortness of breath, almost like a lump in the throat.
  • Butterflies in the stomach.
  • A feeling of weightlessness.

All of these are physiological symptoms, and researchers are becoming increasingly interested in this feeling. What is it that touches and inspires people? Are we all affected by the same things?

If so, is kama bribery a universal experience? The answer seems to be yes.

Feelings of human connection: kama bribe

Studies of kama muta became very popular a couple of years ago. In fact, there are organizations like Kama Muta Lab that regularly provide information that is as interesting as it is revealing.

The word “emotion” comes from Latin and means movement. Every emotion, whether it is happiness, joy, sorrow, fear or anger, has a “duty” to change us.

They give us information about our inner reality to shape behavior and generate an action. Kama bribery is also about making us react.

However, the reaction comes from a dimension that is both powerful and decisive: love.

Of course, we all have the ability to be touched by something or someone. It could be our partner or even our pet. Maybe it’s the result of seeing a show or reading a book.

In fact, what touches us creates an emotional imprint that changes who we are.

The purpose of such a change may be to simply experience compassion and affection for a particular goal; to take care of and protect it. Or to feel passion.

Maybe it’s just to get better people after being inspired by someone’s story, even if we’ve never met that person.

Universal feeling

Here we face a universal experience, regardless of gender, culture, language or country. We are all touched by something or someone from time to time. Furthermore, it is not only a positive feeling, but perhaps even necessary.

This is because few of our emotions enable both a desire to connect and a drive to start new things. To be  motivated by a feeling that mixes joy, hope, admiration and affection.

The feelings in kama bribe are kindness and inspiration. There are few emotional impulses that are so revealing in people than the sudden realization that something has touched us so much that we feel intense, sudden and perfect happiness.

It may only last for a moment, but it is a moment that is as healing as it is motivating.
