Discover Wellness: Health U0026amp; Balance In Body U0026amp; Sun

Wellbeing, or wellness , is an interesting concept of wellness. The goal of well-being is to improve your quality of life and prevent physical and mental illness by taking care of, caring for and improving several aspects. These include your nutrition, body, emotions, conditions and environment among others. It is a concept of integrated health that is on the rise and worth knowing.

It is possible that you have seen a wellness center in your city, where they offer gym, spa and sophisticated relaxation opportunities. There is also no doubt that many hotels use this term for financial purposes to expand their clientele. However, it is worth mentioning  that the basic idea of this concept is often left behind.  It may also be because it was over 50 years ago that the term was coined.

This is by no means a new idea. The focus on integrated health arose a few years after the end of World War II. The social and economic model slowly but surely improved, and with it other types of needs gained a foothold. These included personal development, freedom and the opportunity to choose as well as to develop ourselves physically and emotionally.

It was a fascinating and decisive moment. In that situation, psychology became aware that its scientific model needed to open up other possibilities. Therefore  , many experts decided, for example, to stop focusing on the treatment of mental illness, to instead offer people methods, resources and strategies for learning to be happy. It focused on getting people to invest in their well-being, in their own self-realization.

The pioneer and creator of the wellness movement was Halbert L. Dun – physician and biologist. During the 1950s, he gained greater popularity thanks to his conferences and books. His message was clear and very inspiring. ” People need to live in a world that is more aware and takes advantage of its full potential.”

We have already mentioned how hotel chains market themselves or how wellness centers offer weekend experiences associated with wellness. These centers sometimes give us a wrong idea of what this movement was basically looking for. Wellness, or integrated health, is not something you should try during a weekend or holiday. It is a lifestyle  that you should integrate into your daily life.

Therefore, one should be able to expect more and more therapists for adequate training in the field seeking to optimize the individual’s potential. It is not an easy task. It is an extremely active process that requires willpower, perseverance, full attention and decision making.

On the other hand, there are additional aspects to be aware of. Wellness has also been included in what is known as  “complementary medicine”.  We insist on the ” complementary”  bit because this strategy is not an ” alternative”  to regular medicine.  It does not seek to replace ordinary medicine.

If many of us go to the doctor every time something feels wrong, we are in pain or getting sick, then wellness aims to prevent such diseases or pains from occurring and becoming a problem. For example, it reminds you of the  importance of eating right, playing sports and taking care of your emotional world.

We thus encounter  a new concept of well-being between mind and body that teaches the individual to create healthier and happier living conditions.  Thus, the individual will be able to reach their maximum potential and obtain better health.

Let’s take a closer look at what wellness or integrated health consists of.

How would you define physical well-being? The first thing we will think of is undoubtedly the  “absence of disease”. For integrated health, however, we must go further. Because health is not limited to the absence of diseases and ailments, it is about  “feeling good”.

  • Think, for example, of people suffering from rheumatism, osteoarthritis or lupus. As we know, these are chronic diseases. What integrated health would do in this case is to increase their quality of life as much as possible.
  • To invest in their physical well-being on a daily basis , one must ignore unhealthy habits  such as smoking, make regular visits to the doctor and reduce their stress levels. Just as one must know which diet is best for each individual and to discover which form of exercise is best for them.

In this case  , a therapist trained in integrated health will offer you the best strategies and techniques for recognizing your own emotions.  It will help you manage them and thus invest more and better in your own well-being.

The ability to open one’s mind to new ideas, concepts, perspectives and experiences is the key to self-realization and happiness. Staying active, and above all, receptive to everything around you is a great way to improve your quality of life.

Let us now ask a question. Do the people in your social circle really offer what you need? Sometimes  you become so used to certain social dynamics that you cease to be aware of how it affects you. You do not realize that the stress they create or the accident this impact accumulates.

Being aware of this and being selective about who you choose to keep by your side is another basic, defining mechanism in integrated health.

This aspect is not as well known. Or rather, it is often skipped. Environmental well-being stems from your own ability to acknowledge your responsibility for the balance of nature.  It’s not about limiting yourself to never getting involved in any pollution or living in the middle of the wilderness instead of in the city.

We are talking about environmental thinking. Being aware that daily small actions can lead to real results.

Integrated health also teaches us the importance of always choosing organic food,  how to make your home and city more sustainable, how to take care of the planet, how to recycle, how to reduce the impact of plastic, and so on.

Are you happy with and at your job? Are you satisfied with the activity that may occupy most of your day? Your responsibility for your job occupies a large part of your life and your time,  you know that. In fact, this is where your source of stress and anxiety is most concentrated. Therefore, it is important that you reflect well on this aspect.

Integrated health also seeks to improve this area. It wants you to dive deep into your abilities, life goals and desires to  create an authentic harmony between your personal and work-related sphere.

Spiritual development is also an important aspect in this direction. It comes from a need to develop inner peace where your life is in line with your values. You always need a basic goal, something that makes you get up every day, that makes you gather strength, hope and optimism.

To summarize, we undoubtedly refer to a set of techniques that integrate a very concrete type of philosophy. The same as Halbert L. Dun himself thought out in his time and who emphasizes one’s personal responsibility above all else. We are a whole that consists of emotions, mind, body, relationship and the environment we live in.  These aspects all form a unit that every scientific field should begin to think about in a more inclusive way. Science… but also ourselves.

Let us therefore invest our time and willpower in taking care of ourselves a little better. Take care of all these areas that we sometimes neglect, even without realizing it.
